The family estate
The family estate was constructed around 1826. Each succeeding generation proved every bit as attached to the terroir of Laure Minervois as their ancestors had been, and the property has been developing ever since.
Domaine La Tour Boisée is located in the South of France (Languedoc), 25km East of Carcassonne in the heart of the Minervois Wine Appellation. Today, the estate is made up of 200 acres of vineyards and over 1000 olive trees, some of which date back to the 17th century. In 1982, Marie-Claude along with her husband Jean-Louis, himself a vintner from a long line of winegrowers, took over the direction of the estate from her parents. Today, in keeping with tradition, the next generation, Frédérique and her husband Jean-François, is involved. Over time, the family has taken care to conserve the finest of the old varieties while updating and improving the rest of the vineyard. The result is a rich diversity of wines, each of which can be traced back to a specific plot of vines. Planting new grape varieties according to the regional plans is not our concern. We are supporting our regional culture and altogether we are open to the world. For the pleasure of exchanging! Certain grape-varieties attracted our attention, sometimes from other regions, none of them has disappointed us. We adopted them like they were ours. As for the native grapes, it is their story we are telling here while we keep exploring many grapes still left behind.
The tower (tour in French), for which the Estate is named, is a remnant of the village’s fortifications dating back to the 12th century and can be found today in the garden of the Estate.
