Malbec Alicante, Bel Serrat
IGP Coteaux de Peyriac (red wine)
A few Malbec grape varieties planted in Laure Minervois around 1985-1990 seeded the desire to explore it in the future; this is done! Around a Roman mausoleum from the 3rd century, oriented to the south.
Alicante, seventy years old, has always been in the family. It reached over-maturity, the best ripening stage to obtain its full expression, at the same time as Malbec was ripe. Therefore it became obvious to blend both grapes before the fermentations. There is no coincidence!
This blend is exotic in our region. However we remain loyal to our land, our style and our mediterranean culture while exploring a new colour of its infinite diversity!
Malbec reveals a fine, straight and pure tannin supported by a beautiful acidic balance and Alicante brings a subtle flavour of kirsch cherry, a purple colour and roundedness thanks to the over matured grapes.
